Today’s podcast is about our good friend, Bob Brogden. Bob was our original guide for the cross country tours. Bob was also the person who had our trust in getting us from Mobile, AL to Niagara Falls, NY when we toured of the Underground Railroad.
You know, after recording this interview, Itza and I realized that we don’t even know Bob. Even though we’ve biked with him three times across the country, we don’t really know him. Itza and I can both remember stories about Bob that will always stick with us but they didn’t add up to us thinking we know him. Learn about Bob as we learn about him, too. You won’t be disappointed.
Bob’s wealth of experience as an educator makes him the perfect person to talk about how this intersection of Bikes and Youth of Color actually makes a difference. The very reason that Spoke’n Revolutions exists
A crafty creature, he disrupts the order of things. He uses cunning to get food, steal precious possessions, or simply causes mischief. This cool cat knows how to throw a party, have it catered, cause a fight. We ran into him and his gang this summer and lived to tell about it.
This is a strange episode. No real story here just us talking about how weird it was to experience a hoard of raccoons crash our campsite and steal from our trailer.
——————————————————-- A great deal has happened since we’ve returned from tour. Escalations with North Korea, Charlottesville, hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Earthquake in Mexico on the Guatemalan border. And now the Las Vegas shooting.
What’s going thru my mind right now is Hang on to the world as it spins around Just don’t let the spin get you down Think of moving fast Hold on tight and you will last
Some of the original (male) members of Spoke’n Revolutions Youth Cycling called themselves the Goon Squad. They were a close-knit group of boys that found a bond even closer after our first tour of the Underground Railroad.
Here they are acting “normal” and reminding me just how fun it is to have youthful people around you.
