Day two turned out to be more than expected with a detour to a campsite that accepted tent campers because the one I had listed was only for RVs. 18 extra miles later and we ended the day with 79 grueling miles.
That pain was eased by the hospitality of the owners and patrons of Jim's Place. We were given the night's stay gratis, and wonderful woman named Vicki was so impressed by what the kids were doing in seeing the United States and getting these experiences she took up a collection in the bar for a total of $294! Not only that she paid for a second dinner of hot wings for the kids! Another patron of the campground cut up a watermelon for desert that cooled the mouths down.
