From a weekly after-school ride to a two-week tour across the country, every program teaches bike skills alongside leadership, history, and self-reliance.
Flagship program
A two-week summer bike-touring program that takes high-school-age riders on historical and cultural journeys of 700 miles or more. Riders learn history, geography, leadership, and teamwork. Free to every participant; we supply the bike, the gear, and the transportation.

Year-round
Bike safety, maintenance and repair, nutrition, fitness, and wellness. Road cycling in spring, cross-state cycling in summer, mountain biking in fall.
Community bike shop at East Durham Cycling Center
Hands-on bike repair, an earn-a-bike program, and community-wide rides open to all.
A hands-on class for middle and high school youth ready to learn in-depth bike mechanic skills.
Open community rides throughout the Triangle (March, May, August, October).
Where riders have gone
Buffalo Soldier & Lewis and Clark, Blues & Jazz, King2King, Paat ta Freedum, Trail of Tears, and Bikes, Water & Soul — each a different piece of history, ridden rather than read.
